“A hymn of faith.”
On revival beginning where we left off: God is always waiting, right where we left Him.
Pictures are worth more than words.
“…teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”Colossians 3:16
So as it says: “To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.” (Habakkuk 3:19.) This post is meant to “sing” open the way to meditating on the psalm (song) of Habakkuk on judgement.
For the reader: Habakkuk 2 informs 3. This is rich. I’ll just share a lens. Apply your own discernment.
Habakkuk 2:1 “Watchtower” – Alliterative, “prepared by meditative prayer to receive divine answers” Committed to wait. After Jer.42:7… and the answer…
Habakkuk 3:1 Shiginoth. NKJV says “exact meaning unknown.” Vulgate: “pro ignorantiis” which is “for sins done in ignorance.”
What kinds of ignorance? Leviticus treats these. (Ch’s 4 & 5) – lessons on making amends, frankly.
IMPORTANTLY. What about willful ignorance? Presumptive sin?
“The person who does anything presumptuously… brings reproach on the Lord, and he shall be cut … Because he has despised the word of the Lord, and has broken His commandment his guilt shall be upon him.”Numbers 15:30-31.
What part of ignorance is elevated by denial. What truth is denied? And deceit? What facts are distorted? Where? In politics? In Science? Relationship to Nature? In Doctrine?
Haven’t we always known the “lukewarm church” would not be able to sense the Day of the Lord… like frogs in the kettle over the heat. And still the message is revival…
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”Revelation 3:14-22
Which is to draw near and be in contact.
And we are being tested. As in an economy on hold. We’re calling it “Shelter in place” and “Social Distancing” … what a way to instantly dissolve fellowship.
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.”Habakkuk 3:17-18
We were unprepared. We were proud. And we are being shown:
“Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked…”Revelation 3:17
The prophetic summary is in Habakkuk’s chapter 3 preamble:
“O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.”Habakkuk 3:2
A Watchman. It is a great honor and an incredible privilege to witness the hand of God commencing and now, advancing His plan.
