Group TherapyIs Psychological counseling (addiction, marriage, whatever) in conflict with Christian Faith?

Secular Psychological Counseling? The short answer is yes.  Follow this link to a site affirming this position.

Psychiatric methods have crept ever more prominently into our culture.  Psychology is used to market cat food to us by appealing to tastes the owners would prefer for themselves.  Social Science has lead progressively and inexorably to eliminating prayer from schools and removing Christian symbols from public places.  Will Agnostic priority finally become so entrenched and unquestioned that those who cultivate faith are categorized as delusional or nuts?

If I believe in God and Eternity it affects the way I live.  If this conflicts with Social Science, will I become a criminal?

“Its (Psychology) essential doctrine is that (the) self , which is declared to be innately good , is the key to solving all of life’s problems.”  T.A. McMahon (The Berean Call Publication)

Psychology suggests: Man is, at his core, good.  Scripture in opposition, declares that man (or the self) is innately sinful.

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” Jeremiah:17:9

“So why would psychotherapists, in view of all of the horrendous evil that we see demonstrated daily throughout the world, hold to a premise that simple observation denies? They have no choice. Without God, only self remains. And so the delusion(al) charade based upon the innate goodness of man goes on (as well as the terrible consequence) for people who have turned from God to a deified self.”  T.A. McMahon.

Christians believe that even the sinful heart can be renewed by receiving Christ.

“For nothing is impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

Christians believe that all we really need to know for our spiritual development and success in the Kingdom of God has been recorded in the Bible.

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” 2 Peter 1:3 attests to the sufficiency of scripture in all things.  Most especially where we look to find our advice and counsel in times of trouble and need. respects and promotes an examination of  the deep undercurrents circulating in 12-step systems… exposing  the conflict between self-attainment and surrendering to a “higher power” — “god, however we understood him.”
